Apple default apps

2024-10-24

I’ve been using Apple’s default apps more and more. Todoist -> Reminders, Google Calendar -> Apple Calendar, Google Drive -> iCloud. I’ve even been taking more notes in here rather than on Obsidian lately. And I’ve been enjoying Safari a lot; I might switch away from Arc (at least for personal, it’s till useful for college and work).

An important thing in this switch to iCloud is that I can keep local copies of everything. macOS makes it easy to back everything up, whether in proprietary file formats or exporting to open formats. E.g. my photos library exists as a .photolibrary file (or whatever it’s called), but I can easily drag photos out of there. Also, that format is basically just a folder. Similarly for music and email and everything.

Only notes are a bit more complex. I’m still looking for an easy way to export these.
